About the Show
Get ready to clutch your pearls! The Ladies Laugh Lounge, a seven-time sold-out success, is coming to The Funny Bone!
Emcee Becky Blades hosts a dozen of KC’s funniest women for this night of jokes, improv, salacious storytelling and lady life hacks.
You’ll split your sides and spit your wine to the humor of national sensation Janell Banks, named one of KC’s funniest women, Jen Mann, best-selling author of ‘People I Want to Punch in The Throat,’ Andrea Caspari, award-winning teacher and touring comedian, plus Cassie Duncan, Moneisha Williams, the women of Crusty Mustard Improv and more.
Plus, as always, we introduce a fresh-faced first-time performer, drawings and giveaways!
You’ll laugh, you’ll lounge, you’ll be glad you’re a lady – but you don’t have to act like one.
Our Past Lineup

Janell Banks: Named one of KC’s funniest women and 2023’s KC Pitch Best Comedian, the unstoppable Janell is taking her one-woman laugh factory around the country. Just back from Phoenix, she’s an inspiring Ladies Laugh Lounge success story.

Nicole Burch: The actor, writer and nationally touring comedian, is back home in KC after 16 years in LA! And we know why — it’s the babies. She’s known for appearances on Barry (2018), Jimmy Kimmel Live! (2003) and her special, Never Been Kissed (2020).

Andrea Caspari: Speaker, writer, high school teacher, and comedian with the Bored Teachers Comedy Tour, Andrea was named the Funniest Female Comedian in KC and the winner of the Pasadena Clean Comedy Challenge. She’s a Ladies Laugh Lounge favorite!

Jen Mann: New York Times Best-Selling Author of NINE books, including Midlife Bites and People I Want to Punch in the Throat, Jen is the Ladies Laugh Lounge OG. She’s a host of Game Show Battle Rooms, and you can read her on her award-winning Substack People I Want to Punch in the Throat.

Taylor Kay Phillips: Four-time Emmy and Writers Guild Award-winning writer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and author of A Guide to Midwestern Conversations, Taylor performs comedy, primarily in New York, opening for comedians including Jarod Freid. She is published in The New Yorker, McSweeney’s, The Atlantic, and more.
Cassie Duncan: A popular regular on Kansas City comedy stages, Cassie’s got stories and always a fun take on the not-so funny. Locally and on the road, she has hosted, produced and opened for comics including Jay Jurden & Beth Stelling.
Rachel Sexton: Our brave comedy debutante is ready to light up the stage! An award-winning “Woman of Influence” in the KC business community, Rachel is a fearless and funny mom-fluencer who has things to tell us about raising five kids while keeping her abs popping.
Moneisha Williams: Called Karacter by her loyal fans, Moneisha is a celebrated KC comedy veteran & national headliner. A longtime favorite of Ladies Laugh Lounge audiences, she has also shared the stage with greats including Kevin Bozeman, Cocoa Brown, Guy Torry and more.
The women of Crusty Mustard Improv: With sketches, songs, games and mental sleight-of-hand, these crafty improv mavens will pull you into the laughs whether you like it or not. If you don’t get to play enough at the show, catch them on the third Saturday of each month at the Buffalo Room in KC.

Frequently Whispered Questions
Some of the most frequently asked questions about the Ladies Laugh Lounge get whispered to me in the DMs. It’s comedy, friends. Let’s use our full voices. No questions left behind.
Q. If I don’t laugh, do I get my money back?
A. You’ll laugh. (But, hmmm, that’s an idea: Comedy Show Trip Insurance. How much would you pay, out of curiosity?)
Q. Is the show age-appropriate for my daughter? She’s 51.
A. Good question. 51 is at the cusp of pearl-clutching age … the age we start to get offended way too easily. We rate the show for 16+ as a guideline for the comedians, but we don’t censor them. The comedians are professional and pride themselves on knowing their audience. For the record, lots of 51-year-old women have attended and come back for more. I say hand your daughter some emotional support pearls and throw her in the deep end.
Q. Can men attend the Ladies Laugh Lounge?
A. Last I checked, men can do whatever they want, but let’s not hash that out here. The show is BY women, FOR women, WITH women, and men who love seeing happy women LOVE the show. Men can’t come on stage, and they will hear no fart jokes, so if they’re good with all that, bring them along. My husband always has a sweet little Bro Row in the back.
Q. Can I be in the show?
A. It’s too late to be in THIS show. But if you’re a woman who wants to try her hand at comedy for a few minutes in front of a supportive crowd, this might be your starting place. We have ONE first-timer (comedy debutante) at each show. Reach out on the website and we’ll get in touch if we do another show.
Q. Does the The Funny Bone serve food?
A. Yes, The Funny Bone has a full menu and bar, and it’s quite good. I give four stars to the Smoked Rueben and the Caesar Salad. Check out their menu.
Q. The first show I went to, we reserved a table of ten. Can we do that again?
A. Seating at each club is different. The Funny Bone seats on a first-come, first-seated basis in tables of four. If you want to sit with another party, just contact the club through its website 24 hours before the show, and arrive together. If you don’t have four in your party, you may be seated at a table with new friends. Maybe you can share a Rueben.
